Dear Katie,
I am so glad to have found the Washington TAWL group listed in Talking Points. I have been a member of WLU since its inception, have served on the board and am the former co-editor of Talking Points. In the past, I helped to organized TAWL groups in New Mexico and Maryland. I teach at Towson University and live in Columbia, MD. I would to meet all of you and hope to attend upcoming meetings. Please put me on your mailing list!

Hi Katie,
I am impressed with the Washington, D.C. Area TAWL Group website. You have provided D.C. area educators an opportunity to join a supportive network with colleagues who are interested in learning more about and/or apply whole language theory and practice in their classrooms. Congratulations to you and to all of your TAWL group colleagues for providing and maintaining this marvelous professional development opportunity. I look forward to reading more about the growth of your organization and its positive impact upon teachers and the children they serve.
Peace always,
David Schultz

The Washington D.C. area TAWL group is an organization made up of educators who come together through the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) to network, discuss and support each other through stimulating conversation. We explore issues related to literacy, inquiry, critical literacy, new literacies, research, and pedagogy. Anyone interested in meeting with other area teachers in a rejuvenating, relaxing environment is welcome to join us!
When is our next meeting?
October 8, 4:00-5:30 at Busboys and Poets in Shirlington. Hope to see you there!
